How to use Grok Bots in everyday life: a free beginner guide
You do not need to be technical. Here is what a Grok Bot is, how to set one up in about 15 minutes, and 10 simple ways to use it at home.
What is a Grok Bot?
A Grok Bot is an AI helper from the Grok Bot app. Each bot works on its own cloud computer with a web browser, files and a terminal, so it can actually do tasks in websites and apps, not just chat. Bots keep context about how you like things done, can run routines on a schedule, and keep working when your laptop or phone is closed. When a step needs you, like a login, a code or an approval, the bot hands it back to you.
How to set one up
- Get access. Grok Bot does not have a standalone price. It is included with eligible paid plans, and the plan decides your weekly usage. Check the official site at x.ai/bot for current plans and prices.
- Install the app. Download Grok Bot for Mac, Windows or Linux, or the phone app for iPhone or Android. Your bots and chats sync across your devices.
- Create your first bot. Give it a name and a job, like "Home helper". Tell it a bit about you: your city, your schedule, and how you like messages written.
- Connect what it needs. Connect only the apps the task needs, like your email or calendar. For websites, the bot can sign in when you help it with the login once. Start small.
- Give it one task, then make it a routine. Paste one of the prompts below. When the result looks right, ask the bot to run it on a schedule. That is a routine.
- Stay in charge. Ask the bot to draft and wait for your OK before it sends messages, pays anything or books anything. Check its work for the first few weeks.

FAQ
Is Grok Bot free?
There is no standalone price or free plan listed on the official site. It is included with eligible paid plans that come with weekly usage. Check x.ai/bot for current plans.
Do I need to keep my computer on?
No. Bots work on a cloud computer, so routines keep running when your laptop or phone is closed.
Can a bot send emails or buy things on its own?
It can act in your apps once connected, which is why you should tell it to draft and wait for your approval before sending, paying or booking anything.
What if a website asks for a login or a code?
The bot hands that step to you instead of trying to get around it. You complete it, and the bot carries on.
Is my information private?
All your bots share one cloud computer on your account, including files and logins, so only connect what you are comfortable sharing with all of them. See the official docs for privacy details.
What devices does it work on?
The desktop app runs on Mac, Windows and Linux, and the phone app runs on iPhone and Android.
